We need fighters in Tallahassee who will hold politicians to account when they decide to get in between a woman and her medical provider and who will do whatever is in their power to improve access to affordable reproductive health care. Chad has been fighting for improved school safety legislation for years and will work tirelessly in the legislature to improve emergency response connectivity and the rollout of panic buttons in schools (“Alyssa’s Law”), strengthen red flag laws, require universal background checks on the purchases of firearms, and mandate background checks on the sale and transfer of ammunition (“Jaime’s Law”). In terms of higher education, Chad will work to expand the Bright Futures program and improve offerings for trade and technical schools, which may be better fits for some students. Access to healthcare is a fundamental human right and this includes access to mental health services, as well; however, as a result of spiraling costs, it remains out of reach for many. We need a leader who will fight to keep insurance premiums in line and who will ensure that there's transparency and accountability with respect to the price of prescription medications. Chad also wants to further expand KidCare, the state-sponsored program that provides healthcare to children, and fight for us to finally move ahead with Medicaid expansion (joining the 40 states that have done so) in an effort to alleviate the burden the state is currently bearing when it comes to caring for those who are uninsured.
