Get StartedShall Prowers County taxes be increased by an estimated $1,257,875.00 annually be the imposition of an increase in the Prowers County Sales and Use Tax, effective January 1, 2025, at a rate of half of a cent ($.005) per dollar of taxable transactions (50 cents on a $100 purchase), for a total sales and use tax of 1.5%, as follows: a sales tax increase at the rate of half of a cent ($.005) per dollar of taxable transactions (50 cents on a $100 purchase), for a total sales tax of 1.5%, on the sale of tangible personal property at retail and the furnishing of services in prowers county; a use tax increase at the rate of half of a cent ($.005) per dollar of taxable transactions (50 cents on a $100 purchase), for a total use tax of 1.5%, on the storage, use or consumption in prowers county of any construction and building materials purchased at retail and motor and other vehicles purchased at retail on which registration is required; to exclusively fund public safety needs, including hiring and training of personnel and volunteers and payment of fees, costs, operational expenses, supplies, equipment and capital expenditures relating to public safety; distributing revenues generated to local law enforcement agencies under the requirements of prowers county resolution no. 2024-07; and allowing prowers county to spend such funds; such tax increase of half a cent ($.005) per dollar of taxable transactions (50 cents on a $100 purchase) to expire on december 31, 2034, as a voter-approved revenue change.
