Get StartedThis proposal is for the purpose of renewing and restoring the previously approved 1 mill for Local Streets, Roads, Highways, and Bridges Repair and Improvement Millage beginning with the December 2020 tax levy for repair and improvement of streets, roads, highways, and bridges within Grand Traverse County. Shall the previously voted increase in the tax limitation on the total amount of taxes that may be levied against all taxable property within Grand Traverse County of up to and including 1 mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to 0.9835 mills ($0.9835 per $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed and increased in the amount of up to and including the original voted 1 mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for 4 years, beginning 2020 through 2023, inclusive, on all taxable property within Grand Traverse County for the purpose of repair and improvement of streets, roads, highways, and bridges within Grand Traverse County? If approved and levied in full, the renewal millage will generate an estimated $5,000,000.00 in revenue to be disbursed to the Grand Traverse County Road Commission, the City of Traverse City, the Village of Kingsley, and the Village of Fife Lake for road, street, highway, and bridge repairs and improvements when first levied in 2020. By law, tax increment revenues from this millage will be distributed to governmental units within Grand Traverse County that are entitled to receive a portion of this millage, which are the City of Traverse City Downtown Development Authority, Grand Traverse County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, Grand Traverse County Land Bank Authority, Village of Kingsley Downtown Development Authority, Village of Fife Lake Downtown Development Authority, and Interlochen Downtown Development Authority.
