Get StartedYour Port of Olympia Board of Commissioners has determined that this proposition is necessary to maintain effective and responsive representation of the people of Thurston County and is expected to increase diversity of perspectives. If approved, the proposition would result in the five Commissioners available to serve Thurston County, instead of the current three. The two additional Commissioners would be elected at the November 7, 2023, general election, and join the three existing Commissioners. Five new separate jurisdictions would be drawn through a public process prior to the filing date for the candidates interested in the new Commissioner positions.
The Commissioners of the Port of Olympia adopted Resolution No. 2022-07, concerning a proposition to increase the number of Port Commissioners. This Proposition would increase the number of Commissioners of the Port District from three (3) Commissioners to five (5) Commissioners, who will serve in five separate newly drawn districts.
