Proposition 1 - Millage Renewal Proposal For Gratiot County To Maintain The Current Level Of Staffing And Operations Of The Gratiot County Sheriff's Office For The Benefit Of Safety Of The Citizens Of The County

For the sole purpose of paying partial costs of current staffing levels of police protection services to be provided through the County Sheriff's Office, including the costs of 24-hour road patrol and Sheriff's Office staffing and equipment, shall the previously voted increase on the Constitutional limitation upon the total amount of taxes which may be assessed in one (1) year upon all property within the County of Gratiot, Michigan, as constitutionally reduced, be continued and renewed at up to 0.4486 of one (1) mill ($0.4486 per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of six (6) years, 2024 through 2029, inclusive? If approved and levied in full, this millage will raise an estimated $769,105.09 for providing funds provide staffing and operations of the Gratiot County Sheriff's Office in the first calendar year of the levy based on taxable value. As required by State law, a small portion of the millage may be captured by the Downtown Development Authority of the City of St. Louis; and the Brownfield Redevelopment Authorities of Gratiot County, the Cities of Alma and St. Louis, the Village of Ashley, and the Township of Elba.
