Question 1 - Proposition on Tax Levies

A proposition to permit or deny the Board of Supervisors of George County from adopting a resolution providing for the assessment and collection of a 3% hotel/motel tax on each room rented for lodging in George County that is outside the City of Lucedale and providing for the assessment and collection of a 1% tax on the gross proceeds from the sales of prepared food and beverages by restaurants that are outside the City of Lucedale and providing that the Board of Supervisors may expend the proceeds of said taxes collected to fund the construction of a sports and recreation facility in cooperation with the City of Lucedale, as more specifically set forth in Senate Bill 3145 passed by the Mississippi Legislature during its Regular Session 2023 and approved by the Governor on April 3, 2023.
