We must invest in the programs, institutions and people that can help us solve our vexing problems.The key is to prioritize investment in what works, use data and research to evaluate programs, and be unafraid to ask tough questions in order to target programs or expenditures that no longer make sense. The cost of housing, healthcare, childcare and more are making it impossible for so many of our community members to make ends meet. This will only get worse unless we find systemic, comprehensive, fair and future oriented solutions. Potential solutions for this include: Implementing development, housing and economic policies that will help meet the Vermont Futures Project’s goal of adding 150,000 residents and 80,000 homes to the state over the next 10 years.
