Get StartedRecent investigation showed that Connecticut is failing victims of intimate partner violence, in large part due to lack of funding for key services. I support increasing the budget for courts that hear these cases, and for shelters, education and other needed services. Learn more
While the police accountability legislation passed in 2020 made important strides, it did not go far enough. I support ending qualified immunity and fully banning chokeholds. I also support legislation to provide much-needed oversight of State’s Attorneys. Learn more
I support revising the law to make sure that the communities most victimized by the racist war on drugs share in the benefits from legalization. Learn more
One of the greatest successes of former Governor Malloy’s administration was his Second Chance Society program, rehabilitating incarcerated people and reducing our excessive prison population. I will support efforts to maintain and expand the program. Learn more
Introduce media literacy and climate change curricula Our schools need to keep pace with the problems of our time. That’s why I support updating the required state curriculum to include the teaching of media literacy and climate change. Learn more
Fund schools more equitably across the state. Learn more
Protect schools from far-right censorship attempts The 98th District is home to some of the highest achieving schools in the state. I pledge to fight any and all Republican efforts to legislate against critical race theory or otherwise restrict what students can learn. Learn more
Over the past decade, storms and extreme weather have shown the alarming fragility of our electrical grid, with inexcusably long power outages. I will fight to hold the utilities accountable and move us to a greener, more durable and public-minded system. Learn more
I support investigating the possibility of a state Blue New Deal, revitalizing our marine habitats and investing in regenerative ocean farming. Learn more
I believe that states need to do everything within their power to counter climate change. I support a Connecticut Green New Deal that would set a goal of eliminating carbon pollution by 2030, enact climate justice policies and massively invest in green infrastructure and jobs. Learn more
I support enacting a carbon tax to both disincentivize fossil fuels and provide more funding for renewable energy projects. Part of the revenue should also go toward alleviating any increased electricity bills for Connecticut residents. Learn more
The Green Bank provides investment in renewable energy and is often cited as a model for the nation. For every dollar in public money that goes in, the Green Bank is able to leverage eight dollars in private capital. The Green Bank creates jobs and helps the environment; we should significantly increase its funding. Learn more
Ban high-capacity magazines. Learn more
I fully support the legislation passed in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting and the death of Ethan Song. As both an individual and as a legislator, I will never forget those tragedies and will fight any and all attempts to roll back these vital laws. Learn more
I support Connecticut Against Gun Violence’s proposal to establish a grantmaking authority to support programs to reduce street-level gun violence. Learn more
The housing desegregation bill passed in 2021 was far too weak to address the problem after being significantly watered down by conservative Democrats, allowing towns to opt out of its provisions. I support passing a bill with teeth that mandates fair zoning laws, helping to open up our towns to people of all backgrounds. Learn more
I applaud the passage of landmark legislation last year that establishes a right to counsel for residents facing eviction. I will press for this program to be fully funded so that this new right exists in practice and not just on paper. Learn more
Shore Line East has been sorely neglected by the state, with buses all too often taking the place of trains. I pledge to fight for more reliable and frequent SLE service, so it can be a truly viable commuter connection to New Haven and beyond. Learn more
I support the introduction of electronic tolls on our highways to provide a jolt to the badly depleted Special Transportation Fund. We can use this money to save our rail lines, and keep our roads and bridges safe. I also support minimizing the cost of tolls for in-state residents, frequent commuters and low-income households. Learn more
I support further investment in Metro North so we can maintain and improve reliable service on this economic lifeline for the state. I will also advocate for the high-speed North Atlantic Rail project, which would cut travel time between New Haven and Manhattan to one hour. Learn more
