Foreign Policy

Trade, diplomacy, foreign aid, and defense policy must all be considered when thinking about international businesses.Countries that attempt to limit access to the seas and subsidize industries (particularly in the area of defense and logistics) are not supporting free trade.America must use every power to protect access to markets for our businesses. Government Reform

I will bring greater access to important federal-level resources that can help our community thrive. Learn more

I will champion government transparency.  I want the public to know what government is doing and allow our community time to weigh-in on decisions. Learn more

Healthcare

Overutilization, rising prescription drug costs, accountability in government subsidy spending, must all be addressed.  As with other markets, we can encourage the better use of technology and innovation to reduce costly hospital and procedural costs. Learn more

People struggling with continuous illness or long-term disabilities are some of our most vulnerable members of society.  The government should step in to assist those in great need.  This includes keeping Medicare fiscally strong for generations to come. Learn more

A robust health care system that strikes a sensible balance between private and public partnerships will ultimately provide consumers with more affordable options for health coverage and access to the care they need. Learn more

While we all contribute to assisting others in society, we must also recognize that people should be incentivized to make healthy life choices and those who do should be rewarded for their efforts. Learn more

Immigration

We must also improve the visa-worker program to allow for smaller businesses to compete with others throughout the world.  For the approximately 11 million undocumented individuals here now, we must establish fair practices toward citizenship.  To remain in the U.S., undocumented individuals must declare themselves, commit to background checks, and only then be moved to “back of the line” to apply for Green Cards. Intelligence, investigations and partnerships allow us to enforce measures that return bad actors to their original states.  These measures must remain in place and avoid overburdening local agencies. Learn more

We must remain vigilant in preserving jobs for U.S. citizens; moving away from a completely random Green Card process and matching worker talent with business needs. Learn more

Infrastructure / Transportation

I will work to improve our community’s protection against floods and during a flood event.  Both are essential federal responsibilities, in close partnership with all levels of government. Learn more

California’s water infrastructure is aging and needs many repairs - and the federal government should be California’s most important partner in making repairs.  Conservation efforts help, but additional water storage is essential.  My vote will always include both measures.   ​ Learn more

Taxes / Budget

I will fight for businesses and their employees by allowing them to keep more hard-earned dollars.  Additionally, simplifying our tax code combined with reducing taxes on businesses produces more predictable costs, which lets individuals and businesses plan for the future. Learn more

I am committed to easing costs on American companies to return dollars made overseas back to the United States.I support a one-time reduced tax penalty for those who have chosen this path. Learn more

I strongly support reducing the tax burden on new graduates of vocational, community college, and four year universities.Greater tax incentives than what are available today, can assist graduates and support businesses that bring on new students.The last thing young adults need is a large tax bill as they begin their careers.
