Montana has one of the oldest median age populations in the country. Young people are leaving the state and moving to where they can find good paying jobs. Mining and agriculture are no longer attractive fields for young people. Young families are a huge resource for our state! We want to enjoy their vibrant participation in our economy and the rejuvenation they can provide for our future!. Learn more
I was publicly educated from kindergarten through my post medical school sub-specialty training and I have never attended a private school. I believe strongly in supporting the public education programs in our state. According to US News in 2018 Montana’s schools rank 26th in the country. I will work to preserve state funding for our schools and Universities. Over the last 20 years the state legislature has shifted the burden of local funding specifically towards homeowners. With more balanced organization that includes local business and fiscal transparency we can a do a better job supporting big ticket items that such as school infrastructure. Learn more

Coal and oil have been the backbone of Montana’s energy supply and we should continue to value and support that industry. Additionally, it makes common sense to have a diverse portfolio of energy sources to provide a stable economy and prepare for the future. The adage “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket” is true and applies to Montana's fuel market strategy. Learn more

Housing and affordable options for seniors is also part of this picture. My mom moved to Billings in 2016 and we struggled to help her find appropriate housing within her fixed budget. Towards the end of her life, I saw all components of the care that our elders need, and it is expensive! We need a reasonable option that seniors might be able to more practically afford and were they will be able to receive loving care. We can do better for both our young people who build our population, and our seniors who have given us the opportunity to be here in the first place!. Learn more
In 2020 there is absolutely no reason why woman are still making less then men are for doing the same work. A woman made $.79 for every $1.00 that a man made in 2019. For indigenous and/or woman of color the wage gap is much larger. It is not just wages. Woman get smaller bonuses and smaller 401k Matches. This rolls on down throughout a woman’s career and at the time of retirement, women get less pension and social security income. Women need equal pay for equal work. In Montana, we can legislate that larger companies report their gender pay gap and that data can be made public knowledge. Previous wage information should be safeguarded as private and employees should be allowed to share wage information if they choose. Employers can be more transparent and forthright in their wage offerings to new hires. Learn more
