Get StartedBarry is also a staunch supporter of recent Supreme Court decisions regarding the 1st, 2nd., 4th., 5th., 6th., and 8th Amendments to the United States Constitution along with the need to maintain the separation of power’s between the three branches of government. The “Federal Courts must” remain apolitical for a free America. Learn more
All people, regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, gender or sexual orientation deserve the right to the pursuit of happiness. Barry believes this includes, but is not limited to, the right to equal pay for equal work, the ability to decide who to marry and the ability to decide when to have children. Learn more
Politics have no place in the judicial system and for that reason I am for the appointment of judges rather their running for election. Judicial decisions cannot be based on keeping one's job, but rather on what the law dictate's. Learn more
We need to look at reducing long term sentences and use the savings for better education or just reducing the deficit, etc. Learn more
We need sentencing reform, especially for non-violent offenders. Learn more
There are about 20 million felons in the United States, of which more than 13 million have the right to vote. Instead of demonizing them, let’s give them the opportunity to become productive members of society and thereby reduce the rate of recidivism. Learn more
All citizens are equal, there are no constitutional provisions for second class citizenship. We need to reduce the current rate of recidivism. Learn more
It makes far better sense economically to help previous offenders to become law-abiding and tax paying citizens than for society to warehouse and feed them year after year. Learn more
Our military is the finest in the world, but I see no reason for them to be stationed in 132 countries around the world. This does not make us any safer and certainly adds to our economic hardship. Our first objective should be to keep our forces safe and out of harm’s way. Learn more
I’ve always been against both the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. I believe you can not kill an ideology with the barrel of a gun. However, I do believe the more the U.S. is involved militarily, the more we help promote ISIS ideology and terrorism attacks within our own borders. Learn more
It's my opinion that the only way to eliminate illegal drugs is to take the money out, legalize, tax and regulate them. Learn more
Stricter penalties and more enforcement drive the price up and add to the numbers of those who want to sell them. Let’s begin slowly with marijuana, many states have already legalized it in one form or another, however it remains illegal under federal law. It’s time to change that NOW! Learn more
Creating jobs can be simple, my plan calls for the government to issue a new type of savings bond (possibly: USA BizBonds) used exclusively to finance small businesses and create jobs. The bonds would be available in different denominations at any FDIC bank or other financial institution. Each bond would yield a reasonable rate of return which would be preset for a period of 5 – 10 years. Learn more
My student loan forgiveness plan makes good sense for both the student and our government. It assures a better educated society, provides an increase in tax revenue and makes us a stronger and better nation. Learn more
When I get to the Senate in January 2019 the first thing I will do is propose the “National Teachers Tax Reform Act” whereby each public school teacher will get a $25,000 tax deduction meaning the first $25,000 will be free from any federal tax. Learn more
I’m against Tariffs, I believe they will result in trade wars, causing loss of jobs, overall revenue and added cost to consumers. Today our market place is the entire world, we can no long depend on sales in this country alone. Learn more
Diplomacy must always lead the way, there is no other reasonable answer and sanctions themselves don’t work. We need to open a direct dialog with Kim Jong-un and attempt to bring North Korea back to the International community. Instead of sanctions the possibility of trade might be a much more powerful tool to peace. Learn more
In my opinion sanctions do not work and only go to aggravate the situation by increasing economic hardship on the people while creating additional hostility. Learn more
I believe Kim Jong-un is not suicidal, instead he may be one of the greatest poker players capable of extreme bluffing. However, if we were to take any type of preemptive strike it would be devastating to the city of Seoul, South Korea which sits just 35 miles away and would be the main target of North Koreas thousands of traditional artillary pieces aimed there way. Learn more
Lets stay out of other country’s politics and nation building. I believe most of you would probably agree, we have enough of our own political issues here at home. After all, depending on what side of the fence you’re on, one’s liberator can also be one’s terrorist. Learn more
I believe in the right of self protection but I do not believe in open carry. if one feels the need to arm themselves outside the home it should be with a concealed carry permit with the necessary knowledge and training. Learn more
To begin with we should ban future sales of high capacity magazine clips and military style rapid fire assault type weapons (with a suitable buy back provision for existing ones). Learn more
Let’s ACT NOW, rather than kick the can down the road. With a population of over 340 million there are bound to be nuts just waiting for the right time to set a new record for for greatest number killed in one event. What will it take on our part to realize this is a real threat that must be dealt with as quickly as possible. Learn more
I believe in the Second Amendment like I do all the other amendments, but I also believe there can be restrictions as to the type of weapons available without conflicting with one’s constitutional rights. Learn more
As the greatest nation on earth, our citizens should be entitled to the very best healthcare available, regardless of their current health condition or economic status. Learn more
I believe we need to develop a plan which leads to legalization and eventually citizenship. Learn more
The maximum social security withheld today is $8,700 based on a yearly salary of $127,200. Anyone who earns more is not taxed further but removing this lid will increase revenue and help correct the deficit. Our system has always been, the more you earn, the more you pay. Learn more
