Get StartedI will support reforms that emphasize alternatives to jail, reduce the number of inmates reincarcerated for technical violations, and shift funding to root out the causes of criminal behavior. Learn more
I plan to invest in people instead of corporations, and while I value a strong military, my experience in the Air Force tells me that there is money that can be saved and reinvested back at home. We are involved in too many costly conflicts throughout the world that do not actually make us safer. There are, and will always be, good reasons for keeping our forces on the ground abroad, but we need to redefine how we use our global influence and seek new solutions to conflicts that have gone on for decades. Marijuana has medicinal qualities, agricultural and environmental benefits, as well as economic advantages. I will support legislation to fully legalize marijuana and expunge convictions for related offenses. Learn more
To ensure that every citizen has access to the abundance of our nation, I will work in Congress to establish a Universal Basic Income of $1000 a month for every American adult (yes, that includes you). This money will not only lift tens of millions out of poverty, but will also increase economic dynamism and allow for the creation of more small businesses. Where Universal Basic Income programs have been tried, they have been shown to improve mental health, reduce crime and abortion rates all while encouraging economic activity. Learn more
Studies show that those who complete advanced level vocational training have far higher incomes than those who do not. Our economy has changed dramatically since the original design of our public school system. If we do not change our schools to match the needs of our modern economy, our students will be left behind. Learn more
I support a family’s choice of education for their children, but not at the expense of the public schools that we are obliged to provide. I will support legislation that works to reduce energy costs, and use savings to increase educational programs that lead to high quality vocational and special education opportunities. Learn more
No two children are the same but our education system is one size fits all. I will advocate for improved access to individualized resources so our children can learn in ways that match their unique needs and learning styles. Learn more
We can end our dependence on tons of plastic by replacing it with hemp textiles. By creating more avenues for production of hemp, we can also produce products that are renewable, sustainable, economical, environmentally friendly and practical! Learn more
We cannot allow our apprehension to impede progress. In this economy, we have an opportunity to use public works projects to enhance employment in renewable energy industries and tie economic regrowth to climate friendly jobs. Learn more
We Tennesseans feel a strong connection to our mountains, lakes and rivers. As hunters, fishermen, and farmers, our policies must reflect our values. We must maintain our sovereignty over our land. Learn more
Term limits are an essential tool in ensuring that our legislative body reflects the transformation and diversity of our population. Experience is good, but so too is the infusion of new voices and new ideas. I will advocate for 12 year term limits in Congress and 18 year term limits for Supreme Court Justices. Learn more
Our 2nd Amendment rights are an important American tradition. Gun ownership is not the problem, and banning guns is not the solution. Learn more
COVID-19 isn’t the only epidemic we face; suicide, addiction, homelessness, and poverty have all taken their toll, and will continue to do so unless we address the root causes of these issues. My plans will make sure that our families have access to mental health treatment and services. I will also support legislation that separates mental health from our criminal justice system. Learn more
I will advocate for comprehensive access to medications. We cannot afford to allow individuals to go into debt to pay for necessary prescriptions. Pharmaceutical companies have been rigging the markets in the United States for years and created false monopolies on life-altering medicines, allowing them to stifle competition and gouge prices. Learn more
Healthcare is a human right. Healthier, happier people create a healthier, happier society. I will support legislation that enables all Americans to access healthcare, including treatment of mental and emotional challenges. I will support legislation that helps rural hospitals stay alive so medical services are within reach of all. I will advocate for increased telemedicine so non-urgent medical concerns can be tended to in an accessible and affordable manner. Learn more
As the internet becomes an increasingly essential part of entrepreneurship, agriculture, education, health care and emergency services, we must consider broadband as a utility, not a luxury. The lack of a quality internet connection limits rural Americans’ access to critical services. I will work in congress to create access to federal funds to expand broadband in areas where private internet providers refuse to provide adequate service. Learn more
I support the Family and Medical Insurance Leave Act, which would guarantee paid family and medical leave for all workers. Nobody should fear for their job in order to take care of a loved one or recuperate from illness or childbirth. Learn more
