Fracking and offshore drilling have created some of the most notorious environmental disasters directly caused by humans. The reckless endangerment of human life by wanton corporate opportunism. Oil companies have known for over fifty years that burning fossil fuels would contribute to the heating of the atmosphere. Suppressing research, bribing scientists and deliberately misleading the public are standard procedures for an industry that runs like an organized crime syndicate.
