Get StartedChuck supports additional funding for common education and any savings that can be gained through consolidation. There are several sources of funding we should consider. We should look at increasing the Gross Production Tax to at least 6% and maybe 7%, in line with surrounding states. We should also restore the income tax rate to 6% for households with incomes over $200,000 and 7% for those over $400,000. This would affect the top 3% of households. Those two measures would provide vital funding to address our state’s chronic budget shortfalls. Additionally, perhaps a more economical and 21st Century solution to our outdated textbooks would be to purchase tablets that students could carry with them not only from class to class but from year to year. This would also help create a more level playing field for disadvantaged youths. Learn more
Chuck believes in preserving the natural environment and protecting it from pollution. This requires enforcing current state statutes and accountability by state agencies including the strict enforcement of installation regulations with regard to on-site sewage systems. We should be protecting state waters from all pollutants and any degradation by individuals and companies. Learn more
Accountability of our elected and appointed officials is essential for transparent and effective government. Elected officials should keep promises they made prior to being elected. They should remember they work for and represent the people in their respective district. They are not beholden to The Speaker or any other government official. Citizens that have a problem should be able to find a resolution with help from their respective representative. All spending should be transparent. Learn more
