If elected, I will spearhead an innovative approach to alleviate many of these perpetual crises compounded by career politicians. I will introduce provisions designed to effectively stem tuition-increases, promote responsible borrowing, increase ability for students to customize their educational experience to secure good jobs after graduating, increase trade-schools to prepare students for steady employment, and provide relief for taxpayers who too-often foot the bill on defaulted loans. In Congress, I will work to reign in Washington D.C. based standards and repeal Common Core because students perform best when teachers, not the Government, create high-quality lesson plans that are customized to their students’ needs. Students need to be taught critical life skills — everything from learning to fill out their taxes to doing their own laundry — that will help them thrive in the future. Environment / Energy

I strongly support the increased implementation of solar, wind, hydro, and other forms of efficient, clean energy. Fuels that must be extracted and transported are naturally less competitive than fuel sources that are infinite in supply. As your Representative, I will work to move our energy infrastructure to the future instead of relying on inefficient and outdated sources of the past. Learn more

The rights of responsible law-abiding gun owners should also be respected. I will support effective solutions for ending gun violence that carefully target those who are likely to commit violent acts, not Americans safely exercising their 2nd Amendment Right. Learn more

I strongly support the implementation of Gun Violence Restraining Orders (GVROs), a commonsense, bipartisan policy that would have prevented multiple mass shootings and saved hundreds of lives. GVROs allow family members, school principals, employers, and concerned people close to an individual who is showing signs of committing a violent action with a firearm to petition a court to temporarily withhold the at-risk individual’s weapons. Implementation of this law would allow citizens to help make our communities safer. I also agree with a diverse set of lawmakers from both sides of the aisle that assault weapons should be banned. I will work to make sure that existing laws that prevent gun violence are strongly enforced to ensure that mass shootings never happen again. In addition, I support bipartisan solutions that will prevent future tragedies. Learn more

Healthcare

I believe that everyone should have access to healthcare, but that nobody should be forced to buy it, especially if it’s unaffordable. I will work with legislators on both sides of the aisle to implement accessible, affordable health care that meets the needs of all Americans. Learn more

Housing

Congress, through the Treasury Department, should increase AML oversight to all-cash real estate transactions. Local Bay Area governments, through their planning commissions, should streamline the approval process for building multi-family units. Learn more

Immigration

Undocumented immigrants who came to America as children through no fault of their own should be offered a path to legal status, and should not be cruelly separated from their parents. I also support common sense legislation that reforms immigration to more directly conform to the needs of our country and economy instead of adhering to arbitrary quotas. Our borders also need to be secure. One of my top priorities will be to ensure that we strengthen our borders to prevent drugs and criminal gang members, including the notoriously violent MS-13, from entering our communities. I will work across the aisle to ensure that we reach a solution that shows compassion towards DREAMERs, protects our communities, and meets the needs of our evolving economy. Learn more

The elimination of government incentives and tax breaks across all energy generation technologies is fair. This will serve the double benefit of reducing the government deficit while letting market forces choose the mix of winning energy sources. Learn more

Because Bay Area residents are among the most highly taxed people in the country, it is imperative that the recently enacted tax reductions remain permanent. Keeping American businesses competitive in a global economy via low taxes and common sense regulation is critical to ensuring a continued stream of investment and job creation here at home.
