Heather supports increasing funding to police, expanding community-based policing services, and implementing evidence-based programs that promote trust and improve services. Policing is dangerous work, and Heather supports increasing police pay and adding first-responder services, like mental health, that reduce the burden on police so they can focus on public safety and violent crime. Free, high quality public education is a right of every child. “Help wanted” signs and classified ads are everywhere in our district, but business can’t grow if we don’t have a well educated work force. Heather believes in public education because it was her ticket into the middle class. But we are badly neglecting our teachers and the students they serve. It’s shortsighted and it hurts the economy, which is why Heather supports teacher pay raises that keep these professionals in the classroom. Learn more
