Get StartedJan Schneider supports reproductive freedom. Decisions about pregnancy and parenthood are deeply personal and highly consequential. They should be made by the pregnant woman with the support of her loved ones, not by politicians trying to control women’s bodies and restrict their rights. This applies to all women, including American servicewomen and women in military families. Learn more
Jan will continue to fight for veterans and military families, including for full funding of veterans’ healthcare, including mental healthcare; veterans’ benefits, including under the PACT Act; additional assistance to homeless and unemployed vets; and assistance to victims of sexual assault. Jan Schneider is convinced that climate change is a global emergency largely driven by human activities. The United States and other countries must accelerate transitions away from fossil fuels to clean and renewable energy sources. We can help save the planet by building a thriving, clean energy economy for present and future generations. Learn more
Jan will fight for legislation to curb climate change. She supports a wide range of measures, starting with increased tax credits to encourage development of clean energy resources and technology to capture and store carbon emissions. Learn more
Jan Schneider will fight for increased United States federal government involvement in space. Space activities are vital to our national security, global communications, scientific research technological advancement and other interests. Learn more
While respecting the Second Amendment, Jan favors the following measures: universal background checks; closure of the internet, gun show and “Charleston” (3-day) loopholes; bans on assault weapons, high-capacity magazines and bump stocks for civilians; and restrictions on ownership by the seriously mentally ill, suspected terrorists (no-fly-no-buy) and persons under 21. Medicare-for-All is a single-payer system in which the United States federal government would administer healthcare financing, but delivery of care and medical infrastructure would remain privately or locally-controlled. A comprehensive immigration bill, in Jan’s opinion, needs multiple elements. The first is obviously improved border security, including among other things: (a) additional funding for the United States Customs and Immigration Services, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection; (b) an efficient and fair process for considering asylum and other protection claims; (c) a clearer and perhaps tougher standard for asylum claims at the initial interview stage; (d) strengthened provisions against trafficking of fentanyl and other drugs, human trafficking and currency smuggling; and (e) assurances of humane treatment of asylum seekers and particularly children. Learn more
For our nation of immigrants, Jan favors a comprehensive immigration bill containing the elements identified above. While she finds some provisions and some omissions objectionable, Jan would have voted for the Bipartisan Border Bill as a valuable step toward stemming the chaos at our southern border. Learn more
Jan will energetically advocate in Congress for all available assistance to SeaPort Manatee. Learn more
Jan, although socially progressive, is fiscally conservative. While steadfastly supporting balanced budgets and fiscal responsibility, she opposes a Balanced Budget Amendment. It would deprive federal policymakers of essential flexibility to address national security, economic and natural disaster emergencies and would give dangerous additional power to congressional extremists.
