Get StartedAddiction is a disease and a public health crisis in Massachusetts and across the nation. It is a top priority for Jesse. We must address insurers who won’t pay for those struggling to find care they desperately need. We must increase funding for Medication Assisted Treatment and expand access to safe consumption sites while ensuring Naloxone for first responders and the public. Learn more
Jesse believes it is the federal government’s moral responsibility to deliver consistent and appropriate federal dollars to preserve and expand the provisions of laws that support schools with high concentrations of low-income students, English Learners, and students with disabilities, as well as other programs that continue to protect education for historically marginalized groups. Jesse will work on behalf of the Fourth Congressional District to ensure federal laws better reflect the input of community members, especially educators. The need for funding will only be further heightened in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis. Learn more
As a member of Congress, Jesse will partner with States and local districts to support re-directing federal resources currently used for the militarization of our police force to reinvest in budget needs for supporting education and wrap-around services. Learn more
We must address the segregation and discrimination that still exist in our schools by having a workforce reflective of our classrooms. For too long, communities of color have been institutionally pushed away from careers in education. We must put an end to institutionalized racism in America, starting in our public schools and the federal government must support district efforts to diversify staff. We must also provide the wrap-around services that the most vulnerable students need to succeed, including access to mental health services, programs for students experiencing food insecurity, support for English as a Second Language (ESL) students, and adequate resources for students with disabilities. Congress must curb rising prescription drug prices and reduce drug companies’ power over consumers. Jesse will fight so that Big Pharma doesn’t profit from this pandemic after taxpayers have spent billions to find treatments and vaccines. Congress must ensure that Big Pharma can’t restrict access to a vaccine or treatment to those who can afford it and block drug corporation monopolies from continuing to drive up the cost of health care. Jesse supports legislation, such as the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act to empower the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to negotiate drug prices for Medicare recipients and others. According to the Congressional Budget Office, this will lower spending by $456 billion over eight years. She will fight to increase penalties on companies that raise drug prices above inflation. Learn more
Jesse believes that Medicare for All is the best solution to fix our broken health care system. She will join the Congressional Single Payer Caucus on day one. As the Coronavirus pandemic brings the deep flaws of our current system into sharper focus, millions of Americans are losing their health care because they lost their jobs. Medicare for All will guarantee that everyone has access to high quality, affordable health care. It will empower the federal government to negotiate for cheaper prescription drug prices. Learn more

She will take that same fight to Congress to get the results we need for working women, particularly women of color who face the largest wage gaps. Learn more
Jesse is proud to have helped lead the fight to pass the strongest state-level paid family and medical leave act in the nation. Together, they crafted groundbreaking legislation that protects workers while they bond with a newborn child or care for a seriously ill loved one. It is the first state law in the nation to allow for job-protected paid time off for personal health and additional paid time for military caregivers.
