Get StartedI will defend and protect the important criminal justice reforms New York State passed last year. We must reject the fear-mongering and defeat any attempts to roll back advancements on bail reform in New York. Cash bail in New York was a racist system that was never about public safety but entirely about systemic oppression of poor people, the supermajority of whom are people of color. Learn more
Criminal justice advocates have been fighting to end cash bail because it criminalizes poverty. Cash bail creates two separate and unequal tiers of justice: one for the wealthy who can buy their way out of jail; and another for poor people, often accused of misdemeanors or other low-level offenses, can’t afford bail and must go to jail to await trial. I believe we must make CUNY tuition-free again. New York City is the richest city in the richest country in the world. I am deeply troubled about the proposed Queens bus redesign plan that was issued right before New Year’s Eve. The MTA is proposing to eliminate several bus routes that are critically important to our community. The draft plan would overhaul the entire Queens bus network but will negatively impact most bus commuters in Jackson Heights, East Elmhurst, Corona, and Woodside. As someone who does not own a car and relies on MTA’s buses and subways everyday, I understand how problematic this will be to everyone in our community. We must fight back to save our buses and demand an expansion of service and reliability. Learn more
Imposing higher income tax brackets on those making 5 million, 10 million, and 100 million Learn more
Implement a pied-a-tierre tax on the second homes of the rich, who, despite having homes here, do not pay other state taxes. Learn more
Repealing wasteful tax incentives 421a and 485a which are given to developers to build an inefficient amount of affordable housing. Instead, we can invest that money in much needed public housing in New York. Learn more
