Speculation Tax on Wall Street Transactions: We need a speculation tax on Wall Street transactions where financial traders pay a small fee on every transaction, just like a sales tax, that is used to discourage speculation and invest in the education, health, and the social safety net and create good paying jobs. Supporting Small Businesses: Small businesses play a critical role in our economy. I will work to provide them with the support they need to grow and create jobs, including affordable loans, tax breaks, and resources to navigate the digital economy. Learn more

Fully Fund Federal Oversight: We also need to fully fund the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to better police Wall Street abuses. Learn more

Environment / Energy

Protecting our Water: Opposing attempts by corporate interests to privatize the fresh water supply and turn the water we drink into a commodity that they control for profit on a global scale. Learn more

Promoting Green Innovation: I believe in harnessing the power of American ingenuity to lead the global fight against climate change. I advocate for increased funding for research and development in green technologies, positioning the United States as a leader in sustainable innovation. Learn more

Protecting our Bay: Protecting the EPA from those who threaten to defund the agency and thereby unleash a profit-driven catastrophe that could undermine the progress we’ve made on clean water. Water pollution is an issue that many residents of this and neighboring districts have fought for decades, and we cannot allow the clock to be turned back to a time when our Bay and rivers were dying. Reducing Carbon Emissions: We must set and achieve ambitious carbon reduction targets. I support transitioning to 100% renewable energy sources by 2035, investing in solar, wind, and other sustainable technologies to cut our carbon footprint drastically. Government Reform

Ethics and Accountability in Government: I believe in the highest ethical standards for elected officials. That must include strict conflict-of-interest and ethics laws to ensure public servants work for the people, not special interests. This includes closing the revolving door between government and lobbying firms and prohibiting Members of Congress from trading in stocks and other securities. Learn more

Fair Redistricting Practices: I endorse fair and nonpartisan redistricting practices. I believe that districts should be drawn to represent communities fairly, not to benefit a particular political party. Gerrymandering has skewed our politics, keeping some in office who are out of touch with the needs and preferences of the majority of voters. Learn more

Ensuring Voting Rights for All: I am steadfast in my commitment to protect and expand voting rights. I believe that the cornerstone of a healthy democracy is the ability of every eligible citizen to participate in elections. Combating Voter Suppression: I recognize the ongoing challenges of voter suppression, particularly in marginalized communities. I will advocate for robust federal oversight and enforcement of voting rights laws to ensure that all Americans can exercise their democratic right without undue barriers. Learn more

Campaign Finance Reform: I am  determined to limit the influence of dark money in politics. I support legislation to increase transparency in campaign financing and advocate for public funding of elections to amplify the voices of ordinary citizens, not just the wealthy and well-connected. And I support a Constitutional amendment to reverse the Citizen United decision that opened the floodgates and allowed wealthy corporate interests to drown out the will of the people. Learn more

Healthcare

Supporting Healthcare Workers: Healthcare workers are underappreciated, essential, and should receive better support. Ensuring healthcare workers have strong workplace protections, fair pay and benefits, and Union representation is a start in recognizing their significiant contributions to people everywhere. Providing universal healthcare while protecting access to supplemental plans: Healthcare is a human right and should be affordable and accessible to all.  I would implement policies to address health disparities and promote policies to support equitable access to healthcare for everyone. Inclusive Healthcare for Children with Diverse Needs: Every child deserves the best start in life, which includes healthcare that meets each child’s needs. I will work to  enhance healthcare services for children with diverse developmental needs, including those with neurodiverse conditions. I will work to create an inclusive healthcare system that recognizes and meets the unique needs of every child, providing them with the foundation for a successful, healthy life. Learn more

Lowering prescription drug costs: No one should have to choose between basic necessities and medicine. Addressing the soaring costs of prescription drugs prioritizes public health over profits, reduces disparities in the healthcare system, and reduces financial strain on families. Learn more

Destigmatizing Mental Healthcare: Mental health is as important as physical health. I will advocate for destigmatizing mental health issues and making sure everyone can receive  mental healthcare services. We need to integrate mental health more deeply into the general healthcare conversation, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable seeking the help they need. Learn more

Housing

Prohibit Hedge Funds from Purchasing Single Family Homes: We should also ban hedge funds from purchasing single-family homes. Since the start of the pandemic, hedge funds and investors were responsible for nearly ⅓ of all home sales. This reduces inventory and drives up the price of owning a home. We need to make housing more affordable and give more families access to achieve the American Dream of home ownership. Learn more

Passing the PRO Act and the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act: As a union lawyer, I have fought for the dignity of work and to protect the rights of ordinary working people. I will champion policies that ensure workers receive fair wages, benefits, and safe working conditions. I will fight for policies like the PRO Act that give working people tools to hold corporate America accountable and fight for their own dignity at work. Learn more
