Utah lands are best used to support Utah children. The Federal government owns greater than 60% of Utah’s land, removing a vital potential revenue source for Utah’s education system, through the sale of those lands, or the extraction of natural resources. Further measures to prevent Federal encroachment are necessary. Additionally, Federal involvement in local education curriculum and testing standards place an undue burden on teachers and students. One of the vital roles of state government is to assist local municipalities with infrastructure needs. As the southwest part of Salt Lake County grows, additional infrastructure will be necessary to promote a thriving local economy. The Mountain View Corridor is a good first step, but more will be needed. I will be a strong and relevant voice for our local communities. Learn more
The families of this district have been hit hard by the economic hurdles of the last few years. We’ve had to struggle to make the household budget. As economic conditions improve, let’s keep our fiscal State budget in check and increase the State’s rainy day fund to a healthy level. Our heritage is one of frugality and savings.
