It is possible to be both pro-second amendment AND understand the safety of human beings from gun violence is important. The age-old argument that guns do not kill people but people kill people is still true but there are ways legislators can do their part to effectively prevent these horrific tragedies while still respecting the second amendment. But government cannot be the only answer to school shootings and gun control laws. If you take guns away, criminals remain unchanged, and the most vulnerable will have no defense. When you walk into a hospital or your physician’s office, you literally have no idea the cost of any given procedure, medicine, or stitch will cost. You are at the mercy of medical billing, the cost assessed treatment provider’s facility, and what the insurance company has “already negotiated” on your behalf. This, subsequently, drives up the cost of health insurance. Or imagine, you have health insurance and a medication will help the nausea related to chemotherapy and you could afford it out of your health savings account, but they don’t offer it because the co-pay may be too high.
