Get StartedCreating a new “Wisconsin Idea” that honors our connection to the land, our rich cultural heritage, and our ability to solve problems with a little creative thinking and hard work. Learn more
I support tackling Wisconsin’s racial disparities through many efforts at once: (1) a public awareness campaign under the “Wisconsin Idea, 2.0,” to expose the reality of the problem and showcase restorative justice and school retention programs, (2) public-private partnerships helping kids prepare for careers, (3) training law enforcement against racial bias and in building relationships with racially diverse neighborhoods, and (4) reforming drug laws biased against minorities and the poor. Getting people who are serving time for victimless crimes integrated back into productive society. Learn more
Job training and job placement service. As far as I’m concerned, anyone willing to put themselves on the front lines for our country should be able to get training for a good job so they can continue living at the top of their game when they return home. Learn more
Streamlining access to all physical health care needs, including pain medication. Medical marijuana is a big part of this, and I am a supporter of cannabis legalization. Learn more
Covering all aspects mental health for our vets from the second they get home and as long as they live here, including 24-7 PTSD/anxiety/depression/anger management support, family counseling, and rehab for substance addictions Learn more
I am a strong advocate for legalizing, regulating, and taxing a cannabis industry – and using the revenue to address the opioid crisis and increase mental health services. This will have cascading benefits both socially and financially for our state, by reducing the burden on our courts and prison system, and helping many people return to productive lives. Learn more
I want to evaluate to what extent the FoxConn deal can still be altered to increase its accountability to taxpayers and ensure appropriate protections against pollution. I would request a full environmental impact study, and a complete report on how FoxConn’s use of Lake Michigan waters may violate the spirit of the Great Lakes Compact with our neighboring states and Canada – potentially leaving the lake vulnerable to powerful interests around the world who want to ship freshwater away from the Midwest and into arid regions. Learn more
Aside from the environmental concerns, at a cost of $200,000 or more per job created – and I feel that is optimistic given that these costs tend only to grow, not shrink — the FoxConn deal simply does not provide a good return on investment. I am not in favor of additional deals like this, and I do not think such deals improve the quality of life for those of us who call Wisconsin home. Learn more
Adequately funded schools with strong science programs at all levels, including regular interaction with the natural world and exploration-based learning. Learn more
Wisconsin’s infrastructure and shoreline protections will need to provide for increasingly intense rain events. We can’t go into a state of emergency every time this happens — we need an infrastructure that is designed to withstand more intense weather patterns. Learn more
Restoring our natural resources, especially protecting our waterways and groundwater from being degraded by interests from outside our state. Learn more
I support accepting federal funding to expand BadgerCare programs, and to offer primary care for all Wisconsin children. BadgerCare programs are crucial to the well-being of the people they serve and they save our state money by catching problems early on. The federal money to expand Medicaid has also been shown in other states to create new private sector jobs. Learn more
A focus in public schools on the emotional well being of children, including teaching all young people how to handle difficult emotions and feel more connected, and supporting families when children are struggling. Learn more
Many states are passing counter measures to make sure our law enforcement and detention facilities are not being unfairly used at the whim of the federal government to detain law abiding immigrants — most of whom we truly need to keep our businesses running. I would like to see Wisconsin act on similar protections — not just for the sake of our farmers and municipalities and businesses, but for the sake of human decency. Learn more
We need to take advantage of federal funding when we can – including for alternative transportation modes that could greatly relieve the burden on our roads. User fees in the form of gas taxes, vehicle registration, and even tolls in certain areas should all be considered. Learn more
Fiscal responsibility, a balanced budget, and a legislative process that is based on productive discussion, respect for diverse viewpoints, and a willingness to create policies that have support from many sectors. Learn more
