We need the capability of putting 10,000 to 50,000 boots on the ground anywhere on the planet within 12 hours, with backup and support. Our military should be lighter, faster, stronger, higher-tech and pack more punch. Learn more

We need to take the shackles off our fine military and let them reduce ISIS, Al Qaeda, the Taliban and the rest to a manageable level. Learn more

Coalitions are fine for feel-good, TV consumption, but the unfettered Marines are the way to get the job done. Learn more

Environment / Energy

I am in favor of the Keystone Pipeline to increase our energy supply and create jobs, and at the same time the fostering of clean energy – if it can stand on its own in the marketplace. Learn more

Alternate and renewable energy sources are looking more and more exciting. They are not ready for prime time, but there is enormous promise on the horizon and I can’t wait! However, I do not believe our government should engage in clumsy, wasteful “investments”, like the disaster of Solyndra. Learn more

Meantime, there is plenty we can do to foster the most efficient use of traditional energy sources, without hobbling our industries. For instance, there are seven clean coal technologies currently deployed and improving all the time, which will permit the responsible use of this cheap, abundant source of energy. Learn more

Government Reform

I believe in the citizen-legislator form of government that Maine has treasured forever. Farmers, fishermen, and businessmen and women left their plows and boats and shops to “do their time” in Augusta or Washington. And then they went back home. My great grandfather did it. He served his community, bringing fresh ideas and energy to the tasks of the period then made way for even fresher ideas and more energy from the next wave of citizen-legislators. Learn more

Healthcare

Allow individuals to fully deduct health insurance premium payments from their tax returns. Learn more

Permit insurance companies to compete nationally to increase competition Learn more

Allow health insurance to be personal and portable. A consumer may take their policy from job to job, arranging what portion the new employer will pick up as part of the pay package. That portion remains deductible to employer, and non-taxable to consumer. Learn more

Increase and promote Health Savings Accounts. Learn more

Allow insured "groups" to form outside businesses or associations. Learn more

Immigration

A fence works around the White House, the Democrats set up a 4 mile long, 8' high fence around their Convention, a substantial wall in Israel has been very successful. It will work on our borders. Learn more

Our security has got to start with controlling our borders, and evicting illegal aliens and those who have over-stayed their visas. Kate's Law, E-Verify, the elimination of santuary cities and other immigration security measures are essential. Close the border, vet new legal immigrants and follow our laws Learn more

I support an enhanced E-Verify and Kate's Law, a mandatory federal sentence for deported illegals who return to our country. Learn more

Here's what I support. Accept no refugees without thorough examination, and only on a temporary basis. Close the borders: Wall, technology, drone, moat, whatever gets it done. Track visitors on visas and "assist" them to depart, as they agreed when entering. Pass Kate's Law (for future returning felon deportees). Improve E-Verify reporting and enforcement: make it mandatory, establish "photo matching",  integrate drivers' licenses, incentivize use, curtail I-9. Find and deport all illegal immigrant felons. Tighten up on "chain" immigration. We want immigrants based on merit. Get tougher on special working permit visas, like H1B. Illegal aliens will have to leave. Once out, an illegal alien who has never been charged with a felony or more than one misdemeanor, and has never received taxpayer money, may apply to return to the United States. If an illegal alien took taxpayer money, they may make arrangements to repay it as part of their application to return. Learn more

450,000 visitors overstay their visas every year. Let's track them and assist them to leave, as they agreed, as other countries do. Learn more

Taxes / Budget

I will fight for lower taxes for everybody, including the tax-free repatriation of $2 trillion our corporations have parked off-shore. Learn more

Before we can pay down debt, we have to get to balanced annual spending. The Heritage Foundation’s Blueprint for Balance lists 116 programs for elimination or curtailment. That’s a solid start. Learn more
