If the State Legislature passes any prohibition on installation of residential natural-gas connections or gas appliances, along with any opportunity for local government opt-out, I promise to vote to opt out of such requirements. The Town should adopt a philosopy of asking only for volunteer work, and not a revenue stream, for use of Town resources by local residents. Even out-of-towners should not be expected to pay EXCEPT to the degree necessary to manage the use of these resources at high-demand times, when selective charges for non-residents can help to keep them free for Town taxpayers. Better usage of recreational facilities. We have an abundance of land and water resources for recreation, especially now with Cazenovia College's and the Cazenovia School District's athletic fields. We need to increase access by figuring out how to assume liability for community use; training unpaid volunteers to supervise these facilities responsibly; and encouraging the whole community to look out for these precious resources. We specifically need to make sure to add more markings and nets for outdoor volleyball (beach and grass fields) and badminton, since these sports are more likely to be enjoyed by smaller young-adult rec groups, as compared to large softball and soccer/football fields. Learn more
