Get StartedFirst responders show up for our community even in the worst of times. As a legislator, I would protect, empower, and honor them for their work every step of the way. These last few months would have been impossible without them – not just tough. They are the glue that is keeping us all together, and for that we thank them. As the Massachusetts legislature will continue addressing legislation that protects, secures and rewards first responders for their life-saving and life-risking work, I will be there to assure Westfield’s first responders feel our gratitude all the way from Boston. My grandpa, a Bronze Star and twice a Purple Heart recipient who fought in the second wave of D-Day, was one of the “lucky” ones to escape sickness at the recent Holyoke Soldier’s Home outbreak. Unfortunately, far too many heroes and their families were not so “lucky”. While I might not know all the families and heroes affected in Westfield just yet, I certainly know how cheated they feel. In Westfield, I will not let the greatest generation be forgotten. Not in our own backyard, and certainly not in the State House in Boston. Learn more
As a State Representative for Westfield, I would urgently immediately seek a seat on the Joint Committee on Mental Health, Substance Use and Recovery. This would allow me to keep a close eye on the discussions and data surrounding these issues in Westfield and our Commonwealth. To even begin to rid this crisis from our own households, we need to make strides in the prevention & treatment of addiction. Every result of such an investment will not show itself overnight, but Westfield cannot wait any longer. To live in a community where deadly drugs do not dissolve the potential of our people, prevention & treatment need the entirety of our attention now. Our area has done an exceptional job in cracking down on many of those responsible for the distribution of these life-crippling substances, but an endless demand is derived from an initial addiction to prescribed pills. We must remain vigilant on the distribution of these substances through our streets and our doctors’ offices, and take action whenever evidence of such an evil crime presents itself. Learn more
As a State Representative, I would immediately seek a spot on the Joint Committee on Education. Grappling the effects on COVID-19 on our schools, we have seen how much they do for our community, whether it be in the summer or while kids are in attendance. Even in the heat of the pandemic, our Westfield educators were out delivering meals to the students who rely on them. I saw teachers scrambling to make remote lesson plans just to assure my nephew and other students could receive a quality education from home. While limited social interaction was never their choice either, they did whatever they could to keep the kids connected with one another. As we inch closer to the fall with anxiety about school in the air, educators and other school staff have been working all summer to make sure Westfield makes it as safe as possible. Our teachers, students, and school staff would have been a top priority of mine even if we were not in the midst of a pandemic. I will proudly support Westfield Public Schools in Boston and our own backyard. If our schools cannot keep up with the times, Westfield will not be able to, either. Learn more
No one in Westfield would rather be without safe water. So why has this issue become so divisive in town? These issues, of utmost importance to my hometown, are one of many reasons I decided to run for office. All politics are local at the end of the day. As other communities across Massachusetts are finding similar issues with their drinking water, I would form partnerships to get to the bottom of the issue in Boston and fight to deliver major funding to the Whip City so we can combat this issue at the municipal level. There is no toeing the line on this issue. Either fight to make the investments Westfield needs for water safety or leave public office in our city. Learn more
Working families have found a whole new way of living in the past months, and my family is no exception. My nephew worked hard through his remote learning schedule, but days often came with far too many interruptions for my mom as she continued to work from home. I am lucky I was able to get Logan through many of his assignments, but many other families and moms do not have that privilege of an extra helper during these days. I will seek to empower our working families and union members however possible. Times like these have only shown their need for flexibility, extra protections, and a fighter in their corner. I’ll be that fighter in Boston and our own backyard. Learn more
