Get StartedOz knows that we need to reverse the years of neglect and mismanagement that have harmed Florida’s water. Regular discharges of toxic, blue-green algae-laden water into the St. Lucie River harm our health and economy, and the systemic disruption of the natural southward flow of water from Lake Okeechobee to the Everglades and Florida Bay threatens the ecology of the entire watershed. During his time with the Florida Attorney General’s office, Oz worked on the Florida v. Georgia case, gaining a deep understanding of just how interconnected and interdependent water systems are. In Congress, Oz will fight to stop the discharges, hold polluters accountable, and be a fierce and dedicated advocate for funding Everglades restoration projects. Learn more
All of Florida is on the front lines of the climate crisis, and the Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches feel it acutely. Sea level rise and more intense hurricane seasons will continue to harm our coastal communities over the coming decades. Our water quality issues are also tied to the climate crisis—the cyanobacteria that make up blue-green algae blooms rely on sunlight, nutrients, and warm water. As the water warms, we get more outbreaks that are more severe. Oz understands how environmental issues disproportionately harm poorer communities, older residents, and communities of color. In Congress, Oz will fight to restore common-sense environmental protection regulation, support legislation that investigates the impact of environmental neglect on marginalized communities, and vote to put America back on the Paris Climate Accords timeline. Florida’s 18th Congressional District is one of the oldest districts in America. According to Census data, around 1 in 4 residents are over the age of 65. Many rely on programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid to make ends meet. Oz understands the importance of these programs, having relied upon them himself while growing up, and having spent his career fighting for seniors and working people. In Congress, Oz will stop at nothing to protect Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. Learn more
Oz believes that our government needs to do more to lower healthcare costs for everyone and ensure all Americans have access to quality care. The costs of coverage and prescription drugs are rising faster than inflation, forcing families to choose between buying medicine and putting food on the table. Meanwhile, Brian Mast and Republicans in Congress have actively stonewalled efforts to bring costs down, voting against legislation like H.R. 3. In Congress, Oz will always stand up for Americans’ access to affordable healthcare and against Republican attempts to take it away. Learn more
