In District 75, we need comprehensive dam safety to mitigate periodic flooding and prevent a catastrophe on par with that of 2015. Simply put, if you have a dam on your property, you have a responsibility to the people and property downstream to maintain that dam and keep it safe. Learn more
First, we need to pass a constitutional “committee” definition to plug a major loophole in the Ethics Act. This has been a problem with our ethics laws since 2010 and 2012 when two federal courts struck down a portion of the Ethics Act, holding its definition of “committee” was too broad and violated the First Amendment. As your House member, I would push to eliminate the Richland County transportation committee and commit to send all transportation dollars, i.e., c-funds to Richland County Council to use in furtherance of a comprehensive county road plan. Doing so would improve efficiency by eliminating an unnecessary, unaccountable board and placing funds in the hands of elected officials responsible for Richland County roads and directly accountable to voters.
