Get StartedReproductive rights should not be constrained by any measure, and I fully support the work of New Hampshire Democratic budget negotiators to supplement the funding of reproductive care and family planning centers that was stripped by the Trump administration’s Title X gag rule. I also support efforts to make contraception more readily accessible and to make NH schools’ sexual education programs more comprehensive, less abstinence-focused, and LGBTQ-inclusive. Learn more
I support the recent bail reform, which ended the process of incarcerating people for being unable to pay bail, and I will oppose efforts to roll back this measure. I will also fight to make sure that low-level, nonviolent offenses do not prevent people from ever getting jobs; New Hampshire should seal these records by passing a Clean Slate Act to allow greater economic opportunity and reduce recidivism rates. New Hampshire has the highest percentage of students graduating with debt (76%) and the third-highest average student loan debt (more than $36,000). To make sure that young people are not burdened with debt throughout their lives and to retain young professionals in the New Hampshire workforce, we should both reduce higher education costs with smarter use of grant funding and make pathways to pay off debt more accessible and better known. New Hampshire has a role to play in combating the existential and generation-defining threat of climate change. As state representative, I will pursue efforts to transition the state to green energy, increase the stringency of energy efficiency standards, research the viability of wind energy production off the Seacoast, and protect the pristine nature of New Hampshire. It is not too late for our environment to recover, but it means standing up to the oil companies starting right now. Learn more
Greater transparency in campaign advertising and keeping big money out of politics are key to maintaining the strength of our democracy. I will aid efforts to close the LLC loophole, which currently allows corporations to skirt campaign contribution limits, and require all records of campaign contributions to be available online so that people know where their elected officials are getting money from. New Hampshire is behind on some of the common sense gun legislation that can save lives. I will work to implement universal background checks and a waiting period in New Hampshire for all gun purchases, institute a magazine capacity limit, and require New Hampshire to report mental health information to NICS so that those who are prohibited from owning a gun don’t fall through the cracks of the system. New Hampshire has the ability and the obligation to ensure the safety of the approximately 10,000 undocumented immigrants that live within its borders. I will promote and protect sanctuary policies and push for expanding eligibility of driver’s licensing, unemployment insurance, and Medicaid and CHIP for undocumented workers. Studies have shown that undocumented people pay taxes and contribute to the economy, so they should not be excluded from these programs that can provide health care and physical and financial security.
