We must invest in sustainable energy and resources and protect our environment. This involves supporting more community involvement in sustainable growth. It also involves limiting the impact of development on the environment, especially in environmentally sensitive areas such as the Hal Scott Preserve, Split Oak Forest, Econlockhatchee and St. John’s Rivers, Lake Tohopekaliga and East Lake Tohopekaliga, and the numerous other lakes and streams in our area. As rampant school shootings continue across the nation eroding school safety, Rishi aims to bolster school strength and security. He believes local school districts should be allowed to enact stronger safety rules as they deem appropriate for their district rather than have these measures dictated from Tallahassee. He supports the repeal of laws that allow for “armed teachers” in our schools and believes in placing school safety in the hands of public safety professionals. Learn more
Rishi believes that a safer Florida also includes enacting common sense gun reforms, including prohibiting the possession of “ghost” guns, requiring background checks on private sales of firearms and large ammunition purchases, requiring that law enforcement agencies report individuals who are not legally eligible to possess firearms under existing law into state databases, and strengthening laws that keep guns out of the hands of minors.
