Get StartedTexas has more prisoners than any other State or any European country, of those more than 46,000 are incarcerated for possessing small amounts (less than a sugar packet’s worth) of drugs. These people are the victims of the drug trade, and rather than going to rehab where they belong, they are labeled as felons and sent to jails with violent criminals. Texas spends over a billion dollars a year to incarcerate these folks, and because with felony convictions they are effectively prevented from ever achieving gainful employment many of them will find themselves back in in the system. We know that investing in rehabilitation programs rather than incarceration is cheaper and more effective than prison. We can do better and Ryan will fight hard to reform our criminal justice system so that it better serves the people of Texas. Learn more

Ryan is committed to taking care of those who have defended our country and will do everything he can to preserve and expand benefits and support for Texas veterans and their families. Learn more
Texas has the highest number and the highest rate of uninsured citizens in the nation; yet, we have turned away billions of dollars that we could be using to provide healthcare for hundreds of thousands of Texans. We all know that Texas is the best state in the nation, but when it comes to providing healthcare for Texans, we are not living up to that standard. Ryan will fight to insure that every Texan has access to affordable, high-quality healthcare. Learn more
Texas’s over reliance on property taxes to raise revenue and the constant intentional underfunding by the Texas Legislature of our counties and school districts have forced more and more of the total texas tax burden onto property tax payers. We must work to reduce the tax burden on local tax payers and to do so by having a state government that picks up its share of the tab for our public education and healthcare. Every year our legislature gives more and more money away to special interests while devoting less and less to the essential services that texas needs. Ryan will fight to make sure that we meet our obligations to properly fund public education and healthcare and relieve the overwhelming burden on Texas property tax payers. Learn more
