The farming industry is now targeted by our state government. Last term, the state senate passed the Farm Workers Fair Labor Practices Act. This Act was passed by a cohort of senators who clearly do not understand farming. Farming is hard work for everyone involved—the farmer, all the way down to the last worker. My Grandfather was a successful dairy farmer and my Aunt still operates a dairy farm in central PA. I witnessed 4:45 A.M. milking, mowing, barn repairs, and harvesting. If one worker is working 60+ hours a week, the farmer is right there also. The current state government disrespects our farms and thereby disrespects Central New York. Learn more
At the state level, this means advocating for alternative education, teacher support, and regional fairness when it comes to educational spending. Supporting a less rigid but equally intensive model of education encourages student creativity, engages them in their education, supports the needs of our workforce, and enhances Central New York.
