Get StartedRegardless of what people and politicians may say in public, there is still racism and racial inequality in our Commonwealth, our District, and our Community. We often hear that the world should be “color-blind”. I don’t agree with that. The world should be, first and foremost, EQUAL. But every person of color should be allowed to embrace their ethnicity and heritage and celebrate it. But nowhere should that be allowed as a measure of justice, equality or fairness. Our Constitution states most prominently “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal…” All mankind IS created equal. It’s just that some of mankind has decided that this is not the way they want it to be. They view the world as Geoge Orwell stated in his novel Animal Farm, “All men are equal, but some men are more equal than others”. Learn more
I will not support any legislation that discriminates against someone because of who they love, or that allows anyone to hide behind their faith to discriminate against this community or that supports the idea of conversion therapy. Learn more
We need to tackle the Opioid and Meth crisis ravaging our Commonwealth. This scourge causes many other forms of damage to our communities: crime, assault, child abuse and neglect, suicide, and more. As an underlying symptom of these other issues, if we can get a grip on this crisis we will also be working on a solution for these other problems. Learn more
I adamantly oppose charter schools in Kentucky in any shape or form. If citizens want to open a private school and pay for its needs by the tuition they charge, like many parochial schools currently do – that’s fine. But I will fight against any money going from public tax funds going to any charter school. Learn more
Making sure we have a well-funded, well-supplied and well-paid educational workforce is a top priority for me. I strongly support our public colleges and universities and believe we need to strengthen those institutions as well. Learn more
Healthcare is a right. Period. I will fight to ensure that everyone in the Commonwealth has affordable and timely healthcare. If the federal government won’t work to fix the broken system, then we need to tackle this major problem at the state level. No one, anywhere, ever, should have to choose between insulin and food, between surgery and rent. No one should lose their life savings to save the life of a child. And no one should have to start a GoFundMe page to help a friend pay off a mountain of medical debt. These scenarios are simply not acceptable. Learn more
